ABOUTJULIA

I help distant couples, frustrated parents, unhappy kids, those of us going through depression or anxiety  and anyone else who seems to have lost their way. I  believe all problems are spiritually based. That means that your trial, your problem, your issue has answers. Fundamentally, those answers are found in a relationship with the Living God through Jesus Christ.

I am a native Floridian who arrived in Hattiesburg 20 years ago. Before going into private practice, I worked as therapist at a non-profit children’s home, providing therapy to foster children and their families. I have experience with trauma from loss, abuse and grief. I have also worked in a school setting, providing therapy to families, adolescents and children who have mood, anger, addiction and impulse control problems. In my private practice, I help couples improve their relationships.  I  help those dealing with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and parenting problems. My experience in play therapy and art therapy, combined with talk therapy allows me to work most effectively with my young clients. Weaving biblical insights into my work, I use a cognitive behavioral approach to reassure individuals and families that they do not have to face trials and difficulties alone.

It was my joy to raise three children of my own, two which came from a blended family and one who was adopted. My unique personal story, combined with my education and experience have produced an empathetic perspective on families of differing origins. Additonally, I'm a Prepare-Enrich facilitator which helps in couple counseling to break through the clutter and direct sessions to crucial areas in the marriage. I love to read, walk my dogs, watch football, and play the piano.

What some of my client's have say:
